Class Short Descriptions and Attire

Children's Dance - Dancers will have fun performing ballet and tap steps while using creative movement, improvisation, props, story telling and drama. This class provides an opportunity for children to interact with other students and develop appropriate motor skills.

Attire: Students need black tap shoes, pink ballet shoes, dance bag, leotard & tights. Students who are 3 by Sept. 1, 2010 need to sign up for Children's Dance 3-4 and students who are 4 by Sept. 1, 2010 need to sign up for Children's Dance 4-5.

*NOTE: All students MUST be potty trained & able to attend class on their own (without parent present).

Creative Movement - Dancers will learn ballet steps and locomotor skills through games, stories, and imaginary events. Class allows 2 1/2 to 3 year old students to interact with other children and be creative with music and props.

Attire: Students will need ballet shoes, leotard & tights.

Hip Hop - Students will learn the latest new dance moves. This style of dance allows the body to move freely and funky. Previous training is not required for this class when designated by age. This class will enhance a dancers energy and enthusiasm for dance while having fun.

Attire: Students need dance clothing and black jazz shoes or hip hop sneakers.

Modern - This class combines many different styles of dance to produce a new modern version of ballet and jazz. Flexibility, muscular strength and endurance will be enhanced through dance exercises and routines.

Attire: Students need leotard and footless tights, dance paws or bare feet. Dance classes require appropriate dance shoes (Tap - black tap shoes, Ballet - pink ballet shoes, Jazz - black jazz shoes, Hip Hop - black jazz shoes or jazz sneakers), leotard, tights, or jazz pants w/ a tight fitting tank top.

Preteen Classes - Beginning to intermediate level classes for older students who are interested in dance. These classes advance more quickly and learn more steps.

Ballet Classes - Helpful for the serious dancer who is interested in improving technique in Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, and other activities like skating and gymnastics. School age dancers of any level will benefit from taking an appropriate level ballet class!

Attire: solid black leotard and pink tights. Hair must be in a bun for ballet and pulled away from face for all other dance classes. Upper level jazz classes are required to wear leotards and jazz pants or capri pants.

Teen Classes - Teen level classes are for older students with little dance training in that genre. Teen Jazz is for older students between a Jazz 3-6 level class. Teen Jazz 3/4 is for more advanced students who are in Jazz 7 or higher who are not able to take ballet. Helpful Hints • To register for Children's Dance student must by 3 (for 3-4) or 4 (for 4-5) by 9/1/10. • To register for Beg. Tap/Jazz student must be in kindergarten as of 9/1/10. • To register for Tap/Jazz I student must be in at least 1st grade as of 9/1/10.
