I am not looking forward to the arrival of summer.  Last week I was thinking about the coming of March.  In the dance studio world, the approaching spring means that there is a lot that is about to happen.  Tryouts, costumes, recital tickets, registration, recital performances, etc etc etc.  Since we are in the middle of our SEVENTEENTH year at DancEd (how is that possible???), we know that we will work hard to get through all of those things and then, all of a sudden , one day it will be summer.  Sweet!!!

That's the way it has always been, but in thinking about this the other day I realized that I am not looking forward to summertime at all.  In fact, I'm kind of dreading it.

By all accounts, the 2012 Dancers Reaching Out event was a tremendous success.  Each and every performer really seemed to dig deep and do their very best dancing (and singing!) for the audience and for Lacey.  But what more can we do?

Those who know me know that I don't profess to know very much about dance.  That's OK, because I am surrounded by people who know a great deal about it, including many 8, 9, and 10 year olds.  So it was no real surprise when a short conversation with my wife reminded me that perceptions can be deceiving.   A group of DancEd instructors and DancEd dancers and their families made a trip to New York City a week or so ago to do some dancing and see some Broadway shows.  Fortunately we managed to plan our trip around any earthquakes or hurricanes that may be in the area...
